Offered is a rare antique Stitchwell Toy Sewing Machine. A cast iron model , the early toy sewing machine was created by National Sewing Machine Company. It features a hand crank and nice decals. I like the round plate. The National Sewing Machine factory was located in Belvidere, Illinois. As the company made sewing machines and toys, I don't know if this miniature was a salesman's sample or sold as a girl's toy.
The sewing machine is beautifully decorated with a colorful floral motif. The machine is in very good antique condition with some finish loss, could be cleaned to achieve a more polished look; I'll leave that to the owner's discretion. Sold for display only, machine is non working.
The toy machine measures approximately 8 1/2" x 6 1/4" x 3 3/4". It is quite heavy and solid. This is a fantastic example of an original victorian cast iron miniature sewing machine and a rare find!
