A beautiful, vintage, etched mercury glass centerpiece bowl. The relatively large centerpiece is on a lovely pedestal. Lots of evidence of age (it may be older than I can verify), the finish is flaking off at the pedestal, which gives it a great, authentic look. Still nice and shiny, even if there are several chemical reaction stains. Very minor edge chipping, no cracks, which is amazing! The large compote measures approximately 10 1/4" in diameter by 10 1/2" tall. A cork is used at the bottle to seal the finish.
A beautiful look, perfect for display of fruit, flowers, or a bowl of holiday ornaments! Mercury glass was popular during the late 1800s early 1900s and was called "poor man's silver".
