A cool vintage teapot by Peter Pots pottery. The pottery teapot is in their Seagull Blue; a deep cool blue shading to lighter blue and soft gray. The teapot measures approximately 5" wide x 5 1/2" tall. The piece was handcrafted in a wonderful design and signed "Peter Pots 80". The teapot stopper is made of ceramic imbedded in a cork stopper. Because each piece is handmade, there is a slight variation between pieces. In very good vintage condition; I like how light the pottery is, perfect for pouring a cup.
Peter Pots Pottery was started by Oliver Greene at the Rhode Island School of Design in 1948. The pottery has been in continuous daily operation ever since. Since 1954 they have been located in the historic Glen Rock Mill in West Kingston, RI.
Oliver and Elizabeth Greene have garnered many awards for their ceramic designs, including the Metropolitan Museum of Art's Good Design Show, the Syracuse Museum's Ceramic National and Wichita Museum shows. Their work is part of the permanent collection at the Rhode Island School of Design Museum of Art.
