Offered is an antique book, The Gam: Being a Group of Whaling Stories by Captain Charles Henry Robbins. Published by H.S. Hutchinson & Company, New Bedford; 1899. The cover features a pictorial design of a whaleship and contains stories about whales and whalemen at the end of the golden age of whaling. The hardcover book is in very good antique condition with discolored covers and spine, edge wear, clean pages. Previous owner's plate and signature, Agnes M. Herreshoff*, dated 1902.
*Eldest child of legendary Nathanael Greene Herreshoff. The Herreshoff Marine Museum is a maritime museum in Bristol, Rhode Island, dedicated to the history of the Herreshoff Manufacturing Company, yachting, and America's Cup.
