Offered is an antique hardcover book, The Vision of Sir Launfal, by James Russell Lowell. Illustrated by S. Eytinge, Jr. Published by Houghton, Mifflin and Company; Boston; 1883. The book has a wonderful inscription on the interior: Nathanael G. Herreshoff* with the kindest wishes Mary N. Rowland, 91 Laflin St., Chicago, Illinois, December 26, 1883.

The Victorian Era illustrated book was a popular gift book in its time. The small book is in very good antique condition with bumped corners and light foxing; measuring approximately 6 3/4" x 5" x .5".

* Nathanael Greene Herreshoff (1848–1938), universally known as “Captain Nat” — one of America’s most important naval architects and yacht designers. He designed and built multiple America’s Cup defenders and revolutionized yacht construction at the Herreshoff Manufacturing Company in Bristol, Rhode Island.
