An antique hat pin with a Municipal Police, N.Y. Waterbury Button on the head of the pin. The precursor to the NYPD, the Municipal Police was established in 1845 and in 1857 replaced my the Metropolitan Police. The domed brass button has an insignia and is marked on reverse Waterbury Scoville Mfg. Co. The button measures approximately 1" wide and the metal hat pin measures approximately 6 3/4" long. In very good vintage condition with a nice aged patina.
