A rare, vintage charge coin from Gimbels Department Store in New York. The charge coin was a precursor to the charge card and was used from approximately the 1920s up until the 1950s. The brass tag has an account number imprint, you would present the coin to the cashier to charge to your account. The ornate brass tag was found on an old keyring with primarily 1940s items.
The tag is in vintage condition with surface rusting on the back, front is amazing, with its original patina; measuring approximately 1 1/4" x 1".
