This is a vintage Sawyer's View Master, made in Portland, Oregon. Make of black bakelite, it is nicely stylized for the time period. Made in the 1940s-50s, this is an early version of the View Master.
In addition to the working View Master, also included are 6 Photo Reels, with original sleeves with pencil writing. Two 1940s film reel lists are included. Subject matter includes:
Rockefeller Center 158
Franconia Notch Lost River 260
Grand Canyon National Park 26
Making Swiss Cheese 2015
Mohawk Trail 275
Washington, D.C. 137
The View Master and the reels are in very good vintage condition; reel lists are a bit tattered. The reels are so enjoyable to view, they appear 3-D, certainly a wonderful invention for its time.
