Offered is a vintage Pairpoint Glass cup plate featuring the Arms of Dexter on the reverse. Pairpoint #4 In an aqua opalescent glass with decorative edging, the cup plate measures approximately 3 1/2" in diameter. Made by the oldest glassworks in the USA, looks wonderful in a window. This is an odd cup plate as it is very difficult to read the imprint on the front. The back has a small discoloration, looks to be a manufacturing flaw. With original box and Pairpoint sticker.
From "Pairpoint's First Fifty Plates, A Collector's Guide" by Leonard Padgett" The town of Dexter, Michigan was settled on the banks of the Huron River by the Dexter family. This cup plate was commissioned by the Dexter Area Historical Society to commemorate the founding of the town in 1824.
